West African Kitchen — Hackney, London

Ìjókòó

Where every plate tells a story

Est. 2019

Food is memory.
We just cook it.

Ìjókòó — meaning "come and sit" in Yoruba — started from a simple belief: West African food deserves to be celebrated, not explained. Our founder Adaeze grew up watching her grandmother cook for the whole street. Every dish was a conversation. Every meal, a reason to gather.

We brought those recipes to Hackney in 2019. Every pot of egusi, every plate of jollof, every skewer of suya is made from scratch using ingredients sourced from our community's markets. No shortcuts. No compromises. Nothing from a jar.

This isn't fine dining. It's food that means something.

— Adaeze, Founder
